Northerly Berwick Law occurs as conic hill which rises incongruously from either a circumferent landscape (indeed, this is the definition of the Scots word 'law'). It overlooks East Lothian town of North Berwick and stands at 613 ft (187 m) above sea level.

Geologically, a law occurs as volcanic plug of hard basalt rock which survived a scraping glaciers of the ice age, and is okay, neatly rounded off.

A whale bone arch was erected on the summit around 1933.

A summit too bears a few ancient ruins. These buildings were another time utilized by lookouts in the Napoleonic Wars.

A noted whale's jawbone, pictured perfect, collapsed within June 2005 after rotting away, and was flushed by whirlybird, very much to the surprise of Northward Berwick residents. The jowl has stood there since 1709, the latest 1 getting been there since 1933. Locals wish for it to exist as replaced, & talks come afoot seeking into getting the newly submaxilla from either Norway.
